$30 Billion LNG Terminal Accused of Devastating Local Seafood Industry
A lawsuit has been filed against Venture Global, claiming that its $30 billion new liquefied natural gas terminal is harming the seafood industry. The suit, which was filed in July, alleges that work on the terminal resulted in dead and diminished catches for a group of commercial fishers and seafood processors.
The plaintiffs claim that the construction activities have disrupted marine life and impacted their livelihoods. Venture Global's project, located in Cameron Parish, is one of several LNG terminals being developed in the region.
The lawsuit adds to growing concerns about the environmental impact of the LNG industry on local communities.
