$67M London IPO Aims to Fuel Oil Producer's Gulf Growth
Jeff Currie's 1947 Oil & Gas is preparing to go public in London, seeking to raise £50 million ($67 million) through an initial public offering (IPO). The company plans to use this funding to pursue a $65 million acquisition of Renaissance Offshore, which produces around 3,350 barrels of oil equivalent daily from shallow-water fields off Louisiana.
The acquisition would give 1947 access to 11 producing fields, 23 offshore platforms, and 88 active wells, potentially generating more than $150 million in operating cash flow through the end of 2028. This growth strategy is underpinned by Currie's view that years of underinvestment have left oil markets structurally tight, a trend accelerated by recent Middle East conflict.
1947 Oil & Gas was founded by former Goldman Sachs commodities chief Jeff Currie and executive chairman Tim Duncan, who previously led Houston-based offshore producer Talos Energy. The company intends to use Renaissance as a platform for further acquisitions of mature assets in the Gulf, targeting smaller fields overlooked by larger producers.
