Aave's Tokenized Gold Deposits Surge 91.7% Amid Global Uncertainty
Aave's tokenized gold deposits have seen a significant surge in recent weeks, with XAUT increasing by 91.7% to $76.7 million from its early June level of $40 million.
This makes Aave the largest DeFi venue for tokenized physical gold, and users can now utilize these assets as collateral for borrowing stablecoins like USDT or USDC.
The growing demand for XAUT is attributed to global uncertainty and elevated gold prices, allowing users to retain exposure to gold while borrowing capital or acquiring more tokens.
Aave's lending activity continues to build, with active loans approaching $150 million and stablecoin utilization at 82.5%, indicating that capital is being actively utilized across the protocol.
