Abuja Struggles with CNG Scarcity as Drivers Face Long Queues

The Federal Government's initiative to promote Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as an affordable alternative to petrol is facing challenges in Abuja due to persistent shortages and inadequate refuelling infrastructure.

According to motorists, long queues of vehicles stretching several kilometres have become a norm at major CNG stations across the city, with many drivers waiting for one to three days to refill their tanks.

A commercial driver, Samson Abdul, described CNG as a better alternative to petrol due to its affordability and longer mileage. However, he lamented that the scarcity had become unbearable, saying 'The biggest problem is that Abuja does not have enough CNG stations.'

The drivers expressed frustration with the current situation, stating that it was discouraging many motorists from embracing the government's CNG policy.
