Adani Total Gas Hikes CNG Prices Amid Global LNG Price Volatility
Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL) raised compressed natural gas (CNG) prices by ₹4 per kg across its operating areas, effective from August 1. The increase is attributed to higher natural gas sourcing costs due to reduced domestic gas availability and elevated global LNG prices.
The price hike has resulted in CNG retailing at ₹94.02 per kg in Ahmedabad, inclusive of all taxes. This marks one of the steepest revisions in recent months and will likely raise fuel costs for thousands of private vehicle owners, auto-rickshaw operators, and commercial transport fleets that have shifted to CNG.
According to an ATGL spokesperson, the company had been compelled to pass on part of the increase in input costs. 'The revision in CNG prices has been necessitated by a significant increase in natural gas sourcing costs arising from reduced availability of domestic gas, supply curtailments, and elevated global gas prices due to geopolitical issues.'
ATGL operates across 53 geographical areas spanning 125 districts in 18 states and three Union Territories, with a combined network of 1,167 CNG stations.
