A liquefied natural gas tanker managed by UAE's ADNOC has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first time a loaded LNG tanker has done so since the Iran war began on February 28.

The 136,357-cubic-meter tanker was last seen in the Gulf on March 30 and has now appeared off the west coast of India, according to ship-tracking data from ICIS LNG Edge, Marine Traffic, and LSEG.

This development comes after several weeks without signal, with ships around the Gulf using evasive tactics such as stopping transmissions or transmitting false identification numbers to avoid being targeted or detained.

Alex Froley, senior LNG analyst at ICIS, said that if confirmed, this would be a hopeful sign for the gas market. However, he cautioned that one tanker crossing does not necessarily guarantee more will follow, given the rapidly changing situation.
