Adnoc Presses Ahead with LNG Exports Despite Regional Tensions

Despite renewed hostilities in the region, Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (Adnoc) is pushing forward with liquefied natural gas exports from its Persian Gulf plant.

The company's shipping arm has been sending empty tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway that handles about a fifth of global LNG supplies in peacetime.

According to ship data compiled by Bloomberg, an Adnoc-owned tanker traversed the strait with its location broadcasters turned off on Wednesday, marking a rare crossing since Qatari LNG ships were attacked earlier this month.

Satellite images show that loadings are continuing at the Das Island export terminal in the United Arab Emirates, despite the security concerns.
