AEM Stock Surges as Gold Prices Hit Two-Month High

Agnico Eagle Mines (AEM) stock is up 3.1% today after a stronger gold backdrop lifted the company's value. The recent record cash generation and shareholder returns may also be contributing to the price movement.

The rise in gold prices to their highest level in over two months on August 13 improved sentiment toward precious-metals producers, increasing the value of future ounces still in the ground. Agnico Eagle's second-quarter 2026 results showed a record free cash flow of $1.335 billion and net income of $1.6 billion.

The company returned $625 million to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases in the quarter, benefiting directly from elevated bullion prices. Although the July 1 Barnat pit wall movement lowered production expectations toward the low end of 2026 guidance, Agnico Eagle stated there were no injuries and stockpiles are helping soften the production impact.
