Afghanistan's Food Prices Continue to Climb Despite Market Stability

The World Food Programme (WFP) has released a report highlighting the ongoing issue of rising food prices in Afghanistan. Despite relative market stability, prices for essential items such as wheat, flour, rice, and cooking oil continue to increase.

The report found that wheat prices have risen by 13 percent compared to last year, while medium-quality wheat flour has increased by 12 percent. High-quality wheat flour saw a seven percent hike in price over the same period.

Rice prices are also on the rise, with pilaf rice increasing by 22 percent and rice used for shola rising by 35 percent. Cooking oil and sugar have seen increases of 14 percent and 11 percent, respectively.
