Agricultural Commodities See Wild Price Swings on the CME
The Chicago Board of Trade saw significant price movements for various agricultural commodities on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Corn futures experienced a notable increase, with September's contract rising by 9 cents to $4.73 per bushel and December's contract up 10 cents at $4.98.
Soybean futures also saw substantial gains, with November's contract increasing by 19 cents to $12.36 per bushel and January's contract up 19 cents at $12.50. Wheat futures rose as well, with September's contract up 15 cents at $6.79 and December's contract up 15 cents at $6.96.
However, live cattle futures took a downturn, with October's contract down by $192 to $222.97 per hundredweight, dressed weight, and December's contract down $197 to $216.95. Feeder cattle futures also declined, with September's contract down $470 at $328.65 and October's contract down $465 at $321.67.
The Andersons at Kent Bridge reported a 10-cent increase in the price of 2026 crop corn to $6.38 per bushel and a 4-cent rise in 2027 crop corn to $6.17 per bushel. The company also noted a 20-cent increase in the price of 2026 crop soybeans to $16.12 per bushel and a 2-cent rise in 2027 crop soybeans to $15.19 per bushel.
Underwood Grain reported similar price movements, with 2026 crop corn up 10 cents at $6.38 per bushel and 2027 crop corn up 4 cents at $6.16 per bushel. The company also noted a 20-cent increase in the price of 2026 crop soybeans to $16.07 per bushel and a 2-cent rise in 2027 crop soybeans to $15.18 per bushel.
The Ontario Pork Reports indicated that the U-S CME price was down $1.33 from the previous day at $94.08 per hundredweight, dressed weight, and the 100% formula price was down $2.94 at $236.61 per hundred kilograms, dressed weight.
