Agricultural Freight Rates Plummet in Brazil Amid Soybean Harvest Decline

The agricultural freight rates in Brazil have seen a significant drop in June 2026, particularly in major grain-producing regions. According to Conab's Logistics Bulletin, this decline was mainly due to the end of the peak soybean harvest flow in April.

The greater availability of trucks and reduction in diesel prices also contributed to lower operational costs, increasing competition among transporters and pushing down freight rates.

In Bahia, some routes saw a decrease of R$ 20 to R$ 25 per ton, while the stretch between Brasília and Paranaguá (PR) showed a drop of R$ 15 per ton compared to May.

However, not all regions followed this trend, with Goiás experiencing an increase in some routes linked to exports and the beginning of the corn harvest, while Maranhão saw an increase in demand due to the advancement of soybean flow to the Port of Itaqui.
