AgroFoodSummit Turns Focus to Ukraine's Export Woes Amid Grain Market Turmoil
The AgroFoodSummit conference is shifting its focus from being just an industry event to becoming a platform for finding solutions for Ukrainian exports.
The global grain market has experienced a sharp deterioration over the past few weeks due to attacks on port and shipping infrastructure, leading to delayed or cancelled cargoes and rising wheat futures. The FAO forecasts that global cereal production in the 2026/27 season will reach approximately 2.983 billion tonnes, one of the highest levels in history.
The Ukrainian Pulses and Soybean Association notes that while there is enough grain available worldwide, the key issue for the 2026/27 marketing year is not how much will be produced but rather where it will come from, what route it will take, at what price, and who can guarantee delivery.
The association highlights Türkiye as an ideal location for discussing grain-related issues due to its position as a Black Sea hub, major producer, importer, and global processing centre. The country is expected to have a record wheat harvest in 2026 while continuing to import significant volumes of agricultural raw materials for processing.
