Australian company Agtecnic is expanding its SenseSpray platform to include green-on-green spot spraying, allowing growers to target weeds year-round across multiple cropping seasons.

The feature builds on SenseSpray's existing technology, which relies on RGB cameras to pick out weeds against soil or stubble backgrounds. With in-crop detection added, growers will be able to target weeds growing inside standing crops rather than just on bare soil or stubble.

Initial development is focused on cotton, corn, sorghum, and soybeans, with Agtecnic planning to extend green-on-green to further row crops as testing and validation continue. The feature will be delivered as a software update through the SenseSpray app, available to all systems deployed since 2024.

Retrofits to a wide range of sprayer brands are already possible, including Patriot, Miller Nitro, Goldacres, John Deere, Fendt, Hayes, and Stoll machines. New sprayer-specific kits are also in development for Horsch Leeb VT and VL sprayers.
