AI Infrastructure Shifts to Power Delivery Systems
The AI infrastructure race is shifting from semiconductor procurement to power delivery systems as large-scale operations become more prevalent.
Data centres are consuming massive amounts of electricity, and power interruptions can be devastating. As a result, business success now depends not only on building data centres quickly but also on securing stable power supply when needed.
Natural gas is emerging as a key player in this new landscape, capable of supplying electricity around the clock unlike solar or wind power. PwC forecasts that AI-related demand for natural gas will rise to 5.2 billion cubic feet per day by 2030 and potentially reach 7.6-11.5 billion cubic feet per day by 2035.
However, having access to natural gas does not automatically translate into usable power for data centres. A complex infrastructure is required, including production facilities, pipelines, storage facilities, pressure maintenance equipment, and generation facilities.
