AI-Powered Gold Investment Apps: A New Tool for Smarter Purchases
Gold prices have been volatile this year, making it challenging for investors to decide when to buy. Spot gold stood near $4,640 an ounce on August 25, but its price has fluctuated significantly since January, reaching a high of over $5,500 and then plummeting to around $3,942 before recovering.
AI-powered gold investment apps can help investors make more informed decisions by analyzing market signals and providing a clearer picture than just looking at price charts. These apps can study global gold demand, which reached 2,522 tonnes in the first half of 2026, valued at over $380 billion.
The World Gold Council reported that central banks purchased 289 tonnes of gold in the second quarter, while ETF flows added another significant signal, with gold-backed ETFs recording a strong weekly inflow of 46.7 tonnes worth $6.4 billion.
AI can combine these signals to provide a simple score, taking into account price momentum, ETF flows, central bank purchases, bond yields, and volatility. Research has shown that hybrid models can be effective in forecasting gold prices, with one study combining LSTM forecasts with RSI, EMA, and FinBERT news sentiment achieving a 184% net profit in a simulation.
