ÄIO and TFTAK Land €1.94M to Revolutionize Microbial Oil Production
Estonian biotech company ÄIO and research organization TFTAK have secured €1.94M in funding to commercialize microbial oil production.
The three-year project, DigiFoundry 2.0-Bioprocess Efficiency Increase via Digitalisation (DF2.0), aims to develop next-generation technologies for microbial oil production.
This follows on from the DigiFoundry project, where ÄIO and TFTAK collaborated on creating a platform for automated microbial strain design and precision fermentation.
The goal of DF2.0 is to establish an integrated production system that connects biology, fermentation, and digitalisation, making microbial oil production efficient, scalable, and cost-competitive at an industrial scale.
