The Kuwaiti Ministry of Oil highlighted the importance of the Al-Zour LNG import facilities in maintaining the country's energy supply system. The facilities play a key role in receiving and storing liquefied natural gas (LNG) from global markets, which is then regasified and supplied to electricity and water plants.

Director of Public Relations and Petroleum Media at the Ministry of Oil, Sheikha Tamader Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, emphasized that the facilities' operational system provides flexibility in supplies during peak demand periods, particularly during the summer months when electricity and water demand increases sharply.

The Al-Zour facilities have a storage capacity of 1.8 million cubic meters and can receive up to 22 million tons of LNG annually. They also have an annual supply capacity of 3,000 billion British thermal units (BTUs). This enables the facilities to support domestic supplies for up to 12 days without receiving incoming shipments.

According to Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) officials, the Al-Zour facilities are a strategic link between global LNG supplies and the national gas network. They explained that the process begins with LNG carriers arriving from global markets, followed by reception at marine berths and through the unloading system. The gas is then stored in high-capacity refrigerated tanks before being regasified and supplied to the consumer network.

The officials also highlighted the importance of fuel reliability for electricity and water plants during peak demand periods, as summer brings a sharp increase in electricity and water demand. They emphasized that the Al-Zour facilities' operational flexibility allows them to rapidly respond to supply fluctuations and meet the needs of the consumer network.
