Alaska Gas Prices Hit Record Highs as Oil Costs Soar
Oil prices in Alaska have continued to rise, with North Slope crude oil reaching nearly $97 a barrel at the end of last week. This increase has had a ripple effect on gas prices across the state, with diesel fuel hitting record high prices.
The average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Alaska is now $5.02 per gallon, an increase of $1.25 from this time last year. Diesel fuel, however, is at a record high statewide average of $6.12 per gallon, which is approximately $2.07 higher than last year.
The prices vary across different locations in the state, with some individual stations in Anchorage charging as high as $5.79 for regular unleaded gasoline. In Fairbanks, the average price is $4.93 per gallon, representing a $1.10 increase from a year ago.
