Albania Partners with Argent LNG to Develop Onshore LNG Terminal for Western Balkans Energy Security
Albania's government has partnered with Argent LNG to develop an onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage and regasification terminal. The terminal, which will be located on the Albanian coast, aims to provide flexibility in managing periods of high demand and potential supply disruptions.
The project will be connected to existing infrastructure such as the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), Ionian Adriatic Pipeline (IAP), and Fier, Vlorë gas corridor. This will enable LNG received on the Albanian coast to be stored and delivered to multiple markets across the region, creating an additional source of natural gas supply.
The terminal is expected to be a flagship project for the Three Seas Initiative, which aims to strengthen energy security in Europe. Albania's Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, stated that the country has committed to strengthening energy security and supply across the region.
