Alberta Investment Management Corp has acquired a new stake in Suncor Energy Inc., buying 3,040,030 shares of the oil and gas producer's stock valued at approximately $163,386,000. The acquisition represents about 0.9% of Alberta Investment Management Corp's portfolio, making it Suncor Energy's 10th biggest holding.
This is not the only recent change in ownership for Suncor Energy. Other hedge funds have also added to or reduced their stakes in the company, with Intact Investment Management Inc., Vanguard Group Inc., Harvest Portfolios Group Inc., Dimensional Fund Advisors LP, and Public Employees Retirement System of Ohio all increasing their holdings.
The firm's most recent quarterly earnings report showed Suncor Energy reported $2.33 earnings per share for the quarter, beating analysts' expectations of $2.14 by $0.19. The company also declared a quarterly dividend of $0.60 per share, with an ex-dividend date of September 4th and a payment date of September 25th.
