Canadian Trade Minister Marcel Strahl has stated that imposing an oil export tax is not a viable option for Alberta in response to escalating Canada-U.S. trade tensions.

The comments come after recent threats from U.S. President Joe Biden and others, including Senator Tom Cotton, who have hinted at potential import restrictions on Canadian energy products.

'We cannot afford to see our industry impacted by such an action,' said Strahl in a statement, emphasizing the importance of the oil sector to Alberta's economy.
