Alberta Seeks Global Market Link Through Infrastructure Boost
The Alberta Chambers of Commerce (ACC) is advocating for stronger domestic supply chains and export capacity to improve the province's competitiveness in global markets. Shauna Feth, President and CEO of ACC, emphasizes that businesses see expanded pipeline, LNG, and export infrastructure as essential for connecting Alberta's energy resources with domestic and international markets.
The ACC represents 106 local chambers, which collectively represent roughly 22,000 businesses, and its primary role is advocacy. It operates a research platform called Alberta Perspectives to survey businesses across the province on challenges they face, including regulatory environments, federal-provincial relations, pipeline approvals, and export capacity. The research informs the ACC's efforts to address these issues.
To strengthen domestic supply chains, the ACC is launching Supplyflow.net, a searchable platform that provides businesses with visibility into supply chain capacity across Canada. This will help companies identify suppliers, build partnerships, and participate more fully in domestic market opportunities. Feth highlights that boosting exports requires not only increasing volumes but also ensuring Alberta remains competitive while contributing to energy security within Canada and globally.
