Alberta's Origins CCS Hub Set to Become Canada's Largest Carbon Capture Facility

Clean energy project in Alberta is set to become Canada's largest carbon capture and storage facility. Enhance Energy has begun construction on the Origins CCS Hub in Clive, which will store up to 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year. The project is expected to be operational by early 2027.

According to Minister of Energy and Minerals for the Government of Alberta, Brian Jean, 'Alberta is a global leader in carbon capture and storage technology.' He believes that this project will help ensure Alberta produces the most responsible oil and gas in the world while creating investment and jobs in rural Alberta.

Candice Paton, Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Enhance Energy, calls the Origins Project 'a game changer' for both Alberta and Canada. She states that with the largest national CCS site to date, they can compete globally, leveraging the skills and expertise of local workers.
