Algeria Emerges as Bangladesh's New LNG Supplier
Algeria has emerged as a potential alternative source of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for Bangladesh, according to a recent videoconference meeting between Algerian and Bangladeshi officials.
The meeting, held on Thursday, was attended by Algeria's Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab, who discussed ways to supply LNG to Bangladesh with the country's Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood.
Bangladesh expressed interest in entering into LNG purchase and supply agreements with Algeria, considering Sonatrach, the state-owned giant, as a reliable and strategic supplier in the international gas market.
The two sides also explored possibilities for cooperation in developing necessary energy infrastructure related to LNG and other petroleum products, aiming to support Bangladesh's growing energy demand and ensure a stable supply of fuel.
