Algeria Hits One Million Barrel Mark in August Oil Output
Algeria's oil production has reached its highest level in 18 months, averaging one million barrels per day (1MMBOPD) in August 2026, according to OPEC's Monthly Oil Market Report.
This marks a gradual increase since May 2025 and positions Algeria as Africa's second-largest natural gas producer, although it ranks fourth among the continent's top crude oil producers after Nigeria, Libya, and Angola.
Nigeria's production slipped by 5,000 barrels per day (BOPD) to 1.5MMBOPD in August 2026, while Libya's output rose by 6,000 BOPD to 1.397MMBOPD during the same period.
