Alvopetro Energy has expanded its Mannville heavy oil position by partnering with Courser Energy to acquire new lands in Alberta. The agreement adds 28 gross sections, or 14 net sections, of heavy oil lands to Alvopetro's existing portfolio.

The deal gives Alvopetro a 75% working interest in five earning wells that will be drilled beginning in the fourth quarter of 2026 at an estimated cost of C$8.5 million. After payout, the company's interest will decline to 50%. It will also hold a 50% interest in surrounding undeveloped lands.

Courser Energy has developed a portfolio of drilling opportunities within the Mannville play, and Alvopetro CEO Corey Ruttan believes this partnership will provide 'exposure to an attractive inventory of ready-to-drill locations'.
