Former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has called for the removal of Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama from the Board of GoldBod, citing concerns over the central bank's financial relationship with the gold-buying institution.

The central bank is financing GoldBod's operations, and Amin Adam questioned the appropriateness of the BoG Governor serving on the GoldBod Board while this arrangement exists.

Amin Adam argued that the scale of transactions between the two institutions raises concerns about the independence of the BoG and demanded the publication of key documents, including the legislative instrument authorising GoldBod's fees and restated 2025 accounts that exclude the GH¢4.54 billion government capital injection from revenue.

Amin Adam also backed calls for a full parliamentary inquiry into reported losses at GoldBod, citing discrepancies between the GH¢22 billion loss reported to the IMF, the GH¢9.05 billion loss reported by the BoG and the GH¢5.45 billion surplus reported by GoldBod.
