Andean Silver Accelerates Cerro Bayo Restart with Existing Infrastructure
At the Resources Rising Stars Gold Coast Conference on September 10th, Andean Silver's management outlined an accelerated restart plan for its Cerro Bayo project in Chile. The company is taking advantage of strong silver market conditions, with prices having risen sharply over the past year.
The project has existing infrastructure, including a mill, crushers, power station, tailings dam, and permits, which will speed up the restart process. Andean Silver aims to move more than 70% of its resource into indicated status through ongoing drilling, with six rigs operating at a rate of about 4,000 meters per month.
The company is targeting a scoping study early next year, feasibility work in 2027, and a restart in 2028. Andean Silver's share price has closely tracked the silver market, reflecting its status as a development-stage company with direct exposure to the metal.
