Ansarullah Disrupts Saudi Oil Exports in Escalating Conflict
Escalating tensions between the Ansarullah movement and Saudi Arabia have disrupted Saudi oil exports. The Ansarullah, also known as the Houthis, govern the west of Yemen. They accuse Saudi Arabia of starting the escalation by bombing Sana'a airport on July 13, which damaged the runway and prevented a delegation from landing.
The Ansarullah forces attacked Saudi Arabia's Najran Province next to Yemen on the Red Sea, hitting the airport and Aramco oil facility. They claim this is in response to Saudi attacks on Houthi telecommunication facilities and civilian areas.
Saudi Arabia had moved its oil to facilities on the Red Sea coast after Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz. However, Ansarullah forces have now blocked Saudi vessels from passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait and banned them from traveling in the Red Sea.
