Anwar, Rahman Discuss LNG Cooperation, Investment Opportunities

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim discussed ways to strengthen Malaysia-Bangladesh relations during a telephone conversation with Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on July 28, 2026.

The two leaders touched on energy cooperation, particularly the possibility of PETRONAS supplying liquefied natural gas (LNG) to meet Bangladesh's urgent needs amid ongoing gas supply challenges.

Economic cooperation was also discussed, including the progress of investments involving Axiata and potential strategic cooperation with MMC Port. Anwar stated that such cooperation would help strengthen economic relations and create more opportunities for both countries.
