APA Beats Estimates as Oil Prices Surge Amid Middle East Tensions
APA Corporation, an oil and gas producer based in Houston, Texas, reported better-than-expected second-quarter profits thanks to rising oil prices. The company's realized price for each barrel of oil produced increased to $98.24 from $65.58 a year ago.
The U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran has contributed to higher oil prices, with benchmark Brent crude averaging $89.62 a barrel during the quarter - a 19.2% increase from last year. APA's operations are mainly based in the United States, Egypt, the North Sea, and Suriname.
Despite the sharp rise in oil prices this year, U.S. shale producers have generally maintained their production levels due to concerns about geopolitical uncertainty. In response, APA has implemented cost-reduction measures that it expects will yield $500 million in annualized savings by 2026.
