Arab League Condemns Iran's Attack on UAE Oil Tanker in Strait of Hormuz
The Arab League and several Arab states have condemned Iran's targeting of a UAE oil tanker while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The attack, which occurred on August 8, has been described as a serious threat to maritime security and safety by the Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy.
Fahmy held Tehran fully responsible for what he described as attacks against Arab interests, saying they contravene established international principles governing freedom of navigation and the safety of waterways.
Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry also strongly condemned the targeting of the UAE tanker, describing it as a threat to maritime security and safety as well as global energy supplies.
