Arabian Drilling Signs Oman Contract as Saudi Firm Expands Regional Reach
Saudi Arabia's Arabian Drilling Company has signed a contract to drill up to four wells off Oman's east coast. The deal, worth an undisclosed amount, is expected to contribute to Arabian Drilling's 2026 financial results and strengthen its backlog.
The contract follows the company's first international offshore assignment, which was completed ahead of schedule. Arabian Drilling will redeploy a jack-up rig for the Oman campaign, marking another step in expanding its regional presence.
Masirah Oil Limited and Northern Offshore Ltd are the clients behind the new deal. The two companies have a 100% interest in Block 50, which contains the Yumna oil field. Yumna achieved first oil in February 2020 and had produced approximately 9.07 million barrels by the end of 2024.
However, production at Yumna has declined recently, averaging around 742 barrels per day in March 2026 compared to 854 bpd in January. Masirah Oil is working to sustain Yumna's production and increase recovery from the field through additional development drilling.
