Aramco Refinery Fire in Saudi Arabia Quickly Extinguished by Industrial Teams

A fire broke out at Saudi Aramco's Jazan refinery complex in southwestern Saudi Arabia on Sunday, but was quickly extinguished by industrial firefighting teams. The incident occurred at a facility belonging to the company's Jazan refinery, according to the Saudi Ministry of Energy.

The ministry stated that 'the competent authorities are completing the necessary procedures to deal with the incident,' without providing details on the cause of the fire or its extent. Aramco's Jazan Refinery Complex is a major industrial development aimed at turning the region into a diversified economic hub, with an estimated investment of $21 billion.

The refinery complex processes up to 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day and produces fuels such as gasoline and ultra-low-sulfur diesel. It also includes an integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) plant with a capacity of up to 3.8 gigawatts, supplying power for refinery operations and nearby industrial users.
