Argent LNG Clears Key Export Approval from US Energy Department
Argent LNG, a Metairie-based company, has received authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy to export up to 25 million metric tons of liquified natural gas (LNG) annually to countries with a Free Trade Agreement with the United States.
The company plans to build an LNG export terminal at Port Fourchon in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, which is expected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2030. The terminal will be built on an approximately 900-acre parcel under a long-term lease agreement with the Greater Lafourche Port Commission.
Argent Chairman and CEO Jonathan Bass stated that the company's goal is to provide allied nations with a real alternative to weaponized Russian gas, citing America's 'supply, obligation, and will' to do so.
