Argent LNG Gets Key Permit for Louisiana Export Terminal

Argent LNG has secured a crucial federal permit from the US Department of Energy to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from its proposed Louisiana terminal. The authorization allows Argent LNG to ship up to 1.3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas per year for 20 years, starting from the facility's first commercial export date.

The project, located at Port Fourchon in Louisiana, is designed to export up to 25 million tonnes of LNG annually, making it one of the larger proposed facilities on the US Gulf Coast. The DOE authorization covers exports to countries with free-trade agreements with the US, including Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and South Korea.

Argent LNG has also signed non-binding agreements with Bangladesh for up to 5 million tonnes of LNG per year and a market participation agreement with Turkish energy bourse EPIAS. The project's developer aims to move US gas into Europe via this partnership.
