Argent LNG Gets Key US Export Permit for Louisiana Project
Argent LNG, a privately held US company, has received a key federal approval for its proposed Louisiana export terminal. The US Department of Energy (DOE) has authorized Argent LNG to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the project to countries with free-trade agreements with the US.
The project, located at Port Fourchon, Louisiana, is designed to export up to 25 million tonnes per year of LNG. The DOE approval allows Argent LNG to export up to 1.3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas per year for a 20-year term beginning on the date of the facility's first commercial export.
The authorization also covers exports to US free-trade agreement partners, including Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and South Korea, among others. This approval is separate from Argent LNG's pending request to ship LNG to countries without free-trade agreements with the US.
