Argent LNG Secures DOE Approval for Massive Gas Export Terminal
A US company called Argent LNG has received authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy to export up to 25 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas annually.
The export terminal will be built at Port Fourchon in Lafourche Parish, about 70 miles south-southwest of New Orleans, and operations are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2030.
Argent LNG Chairman and CEO Jonathan Bass said the company's goal is to provide a real alternative to weaponized Russian gas for allied nations.
The terminal will be built on an approximately 900-acre parcel at Port Fourchon, under a long-term lease agreement with the Greater Lafourche Port Commission.
