Argentina Corn Exports Poised for Record Surge as Demand from North Africa Soars

Argentina's corn exports are poised to reach a record high in August and September, backed by a bumper harvest and strong international demand. The country is expected to export around 10 million tons of corn during these two months, up from its usual 3 million tons.

This surge in exports is driven by Argentina's large crop, estimated at 71.7 million tons for the 2025/26 season - a nearly 20% increase over the previous record. Strong demand from North Africa, particularly Morocco, Egypt, and Algeria, has also played a significant role in boosting Argentine corn exports.

Argentina has benefited from increased purchases by these countries, which are traditionally major markets for Black Sea grain. The country's corn exports to North Africa rose 45% in the first seven months of the year to 6.5 million tons, while overall corn exports increased by 15% over the same period.

Additionally, Argentina has gained from Brazil's reduced competition in the global corn market. Brazilian corn exports have declined by nearly 20% from their three-year record high due to increased volumes being directed towards the country's domestic ethanol industry.
