Argentina Crude Output Jumps 17% as Vaca Muerta Drives Growth
Argentina's crude oil production reached a new record in July 2026, driven by the expansion of Vaca Muerta.
The national oil output rose to 916,200 barrels per day, up 17.2% from the same month in 2025.
Vaca Muerta, an unconventional formation in Neuquén province, produced 643,100 barrels per day in July, a 26.4% year-on-year increase.
The shale formation now accounts for more than 70% of Argentina's total crude output.
