Argentina LNG, a joint venture between YPF, Eni and XRG, has applied to join the country's Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI) in support of its proposed twin-FLNG export project. This project would utilize gas from the onshore Vaca Muerta Formation and include gas transportation and processing facilities.

The partners plan to develop an integrated LNG value chain, with two floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessels stationed offshore Río Negro province. Each vessel will have a combined liquefaction capacity of 12 MMmt/year. The project aims to create a new export route for gas from Argentina's Vaca Muerta shale and position the country in global LNG markets.

The partners aim to take final investment decision (FID) on the project by the end of this year, if sanctioned. This development would be significant as it would enable Argentina to expand its presence in global LNG markets.
