Argentina LNG Project Applies for RIGI Approval Amid Growing Gas Ambitions
The Argentina LNG project has submitted its application to join the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI) in Argentina, aiming to develop a large-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project leveraging the resources of the Vaca Muerta formation.
The integrated LNG value chain will span from upstream gas production to export infrastructure, including two Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) units with a combined capacity of 12 million tonnes per year (MTPA), located offshore in Río Negro province.
This milestone represents progress toward the project's Final Investment Decision (FID), targeted by the end of 2026. The project combines the capabilities of YPF, Eni, and XRG to unlock Vaca Muerta's world-class gas resources and contribute to a competitive LNG export platform.
