Argentina LNG Project Seeks Record-Breaking $51 Billion Investment
YPF has submitted a record-breaking $51 billion investment proposal for its Argentina LNG project under Argentina's large-investment incentive regime, RIGI. The project, which aims to liquefy and export natural gas from Vaca Muerta, would be developed in partnership with Eni and XRG, the international energy investment arm of ADNOC.
The filing marks a significant step forward for one of YPF President Horacio Marín's flagship projects. The Argentina LNG plan covers an integrated production chain, including gas-rich blocks in Neuquén, processing plants, pipelines, liquefaction units, and port infrastructure.
The project includes two floating liquefied natural gas units with a combined capacity to produce 12 million tonnes of LNG per year. Operations are scheduled to begin in 2031, with around $29 billion invested before the units come online.
