Argentina's Agricultural Exports Plunge 28% Amid Absence of Temporary Duty Cuts
Argentina's agricultural sector has seen a significant decline in exports, with a 28% drop from July last year. According to the CIARA-CEC grains processors and exporters chamber, the country's agricultural sector exported $2.918 billion worth of goods in July, down from $4.065 billion in the same month the previous year.
The chamber attributed this decline to the absence of temporary schemes that artificially inflated exports last year. In 2025, export duties were temporarily cut, leading to above-average sales in July. However, these measures are no longer in place for 2026.
The CIARA-CEC chamber stated that '2026 is shaping up to be a normal agricultural season' due to the absence of these temporary schemes. This suggests that the country's agricultural sector may face challenges without government support.
