Argentina's Corn Exports Hit Record High Amid Global Disruptions

Argentina's corn exports are expected to hit a record high of 10 million metric tons in August and September, driven by a bumper harvest and strong international demand. The country's 2025/26 harvest is estimated at 71.7 million tons, nearly 20% above the previous record set five years ago.

The surge in exports comes as buyers seek alternatives to Ukrainian supplies disrupted by war and European crops battered by extreme heat. Gustavo Idigoras, head of the CIARA-CEC grains exporters and crushers chamber, noted that Argentine corn is now very competitive in price and volume.

Demand from North African countries has been a primary driver of the increase, with shipments to these regions rising 45% in the first seven months of 2026. Morocco led the surge, with imports of Argentine corn jumping 133% year-on-year to 1.55 million tons.
