Argentina's Vaca Muerta Shale Formation Takes Center Stage with Phased LNG Export Project
The Vaca Muerta shale formation in Argentina's Neuquén Basin holds some of the world's largest unconventional gas resources, and Argentine energy company Southern Energy S.A. (SESA) is developing a phased offshore LNG export project to monetize these reserves.
Located off the coast of Río Negro province in the Gulf of San Matías, the project requires specialized heavy-lift and marine installation capabilities due to its remote location and exposed Atlantic conditions.
Jumbo Offshore and CoreMarine have been awarded a contract for the transport and installation of a Soft Swivel Yoke (SSY) mooring system and the hook-up of two floating LNG vessels, the Hilli Episeyo and MKII.
