The December contract on the domestic futures market is trading in a range of $220-225 per metric ton, representing a premium of approximately $7-10/t compared to current spot prices. This unusual premium from a seasonal perspective provides an incentive for producers to implement price hedging strategies and commit to forward sales.
The export sector remains relatively quiet in the spot market, focusing on pricing the upcoming crop, while the milling industry is purchasing remaining old-crop stocks due to inconsistent grain quality. Brazilian demand for Argentine wheat is expected to slow as the country's own harvest gets underway.
