Armenia Downplays Gas Price Worries Amid Regional Energy Challenges
Armenia's ruling party is downplaying concerns over rising gas prices. Civil Contract parliamentary faction member Taguhi Ghazaryan stated that the country will not collapse if energy costs increase. She emphasized that Armenia can purchase more expensive gas if necessary and noted that government officials are prepared to address any consequences of such a scenario.
Ghazaryan argued that challenges in accessing alternative supplies are largely technical, given Armenia's location in a region rich in natural gas resources. While acknowledging the potential impact on citizens' finances, Ghazaryan assured that Armenian residents will have both access to gas and sufficient funds to pay for it.
Ghazaryan's statement highlights the government's stance on handling rising energy prices without compromising key national issues. She emphasized that an increase in gas prices should not be presented as a catastrophic event, reiterating her confidence in Armenia's ability to adapt.
