Asian Buyers Turn to US Wheat Amid Australia Price Surge
Australia's wheat exports are in high demand due to the halt in grain shipments from the Black Sea region, causing prices to rise and making Australian grain less competitive.
The prices of Australian Premium White (APW) reached $312/t FOB Kwinana and Australian Standard White (ASW) reached $302/t at the end of August.
In response, Asian buyers are looking for alternative sources of wheat. The Philippines purchased American Soft White Winter Wheat from the United States instead of Australian ASW at a price of $295/t CFR Batangas and Bataan on August 19.
Vietnamese importers have also contracted several shipments of wheat from the US, while Indian wheat prices remain high at $325/t FOB but could improve if the Black Sea export ban supports world prices.
