Asian Markets Mixed Amid AI Stock Volatility and Oil Price Hikes
Asian markets were mixed on Tuesday as investors continued to watch AI stocks and oil prices. The Nikkei 225 in Japan surged 0.8% to 63,993.22, while Softbank Group jumped over 8% after OpenAI's Sam Altman said the company would likely wait until next year for a Wall Street stock sale.
Australia's S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.9%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng slipped 0.2%. The Shanghai Composite added 0.1%.
Nvidia, which has seen its profits soar due to AI chip sales, sank 3.4% in the US. SpaceX fell 2% after Elon Musk agreed with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's call for a global slowdown in AI development due to safety concerns.
